The Yeatman
This tour offers a unique experience that combines history, culture, gastronomy, and the natural beauty of Porto and the Douro Valley. We begin the day with a visit to Serra do Pilar, located in Vila Nova de Gaia, on the other side of the Douro River. From there, we can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of Porto, with highlights including the famous Dom Luís I Bridge and the picturesque Douro River winding through the region.
Next, we head to our first experience of the day, a wine tasting at Sandeman Caves, one of the most prestigious Port wine brands. The caves, located in Vila Nova de Gaia, are a historic and tourist attraction, where we can learn about the production process of Port and Madeira wines, as well as taste some of the finest wines in the region.
We then embark on a boat tour on the Douro River, which takes us on a relaxing and scenic journey along the river, offering a unique view of the city and the vineyards that stretch across the Douro Valley. During the boat ride, we can admire the beauty of the landscape and the charm of the riverbanks, with its hills covered in vineyards.
Back in Porto, we cross the iconic Dom Luís I Bridge, designed by a disciple of Gustave Eiffel. The bridge offers spectacular views of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia, and it is one of the city's most recognized landmarks.
The next stop is the Porto Cathedral (Sé do Porto), a medieval cathedral dating back to the 12th century. With its impressive architecture and rich history, the church offers a stunning panoramic view of Porto's historic center and the Douro River.
We continue to Rua de Santa Catarina, one of Porto’s busiest commercial streets, known for its traditional shops, historic cafés, and the famous Café Majestic, one of the most beautiful cafés in Portugal.
We also visit Mercado do Bolhão, a traditional street market that is one of the most representative spots of local life. Here, we can find a wide variety of fresh products, such as fish, meats, fruits, vegetables, and local crafts.
The day concludes with a luxury experience at The Yeatman, a five-star hotel and restaurant located in Vila Nova de Gaia, with a breathtaking view over Porto. Not only is it an ideal place for a sophisticated dinner with award-winning wines, but The Yeatman also offers a relaxing atmosphere and a unique gastronomic experience, highlighting the cuisine and wines of the Douro region.
