We begin our day in Peniche, one of the most charming and traditional villages on the Portuguese coast, known for its deep connection to the sea. The town is famous not only for its beautiful beaches but also as the gateway to the Berlengas Islands, a unique archipelago located about 10 miles off the coast, classified as a Natural Reserve.

In Peniche, we board the ferry to Berlenga Grande Island, a 30-minute boat ride. During the journey, we’ll have the chance to admire the coastline of Peniche, and, depending on the weather conditions, we might spot dolphins and other marine species.

Upon arrival on Berlenga Grande Island, we start a walking tour to explore its natural wonders. The island is renowned for its dramatic landscapes, with towering cliffs, crystal-clear waters, and rich biodiversity, both marine and terrestrial. We’ll walk along trails leading to some of the main points of interest, such as the Fort of São João Baptista, a historic fortress built in the 16th century to protect the island from invasions.

The Fort of São João Baptista is one of the island's highlights, offering stunning panoramic views of the ocean and surrounding rocks. This area is also an excellent spot for birdwatching, where we can observe seabirds such as cagarros and rock sparrows.

As we continue our walking tour, we’ll explore other corners of the island, like the Berlenga Lighthouse, located at the highest point of the island, and the Bat Cave, a fascinating location where the sea enters the caves, creating impressive natural effects.

The day on the island will be a true immersion in nature, with time to relax on secluded beaches or swim in the clear waters. For the more adventurous, there are also opportunities for snorkeling or kayaking around the cliffs.

After a day filled with activities, we’ll return to Peniche by boat, concluding our tour with an unforgettable view of the coastline.
