Tour Description
We begin our tour at the iconic Praça Marquês de Pombal, a symbol of the city’s reconstruction after the 1755 earthquake, and stroll down the elegant Avenida da Liberdade, surrounded by shops and gardens. Passing through Restauradores, we head toward the Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara, where we’ll enjoy stunning views of the historic center.
We walk to the Church of São Roque, famous for its lavish interiors, and arrive in the bohemian and elegant Chiado neighborhood. Here, we will visit the famous Santa Justa Elevator, which connects us to the bustling Rua Augusta, a pedestrian street filled with shops, leading us to the imposing Praça do Comércio on the banks of the Tagus River.
Next, we head to the Sé de Lisboa, the city’s oldest cathedral, to explore the narrow alleys of Alfama, where the Moorish soul of Lisbon still lingers. We will discover the Pequena Judiaria, one of the city’s oldest neighborhoods.
At the Miradouro das Portas do Sol, we’ll take in unforgettable views of the river and Alfama’s rooftops. We then ascend to Graça to visit the Church and Miradouro da Senhora do Monte, the highest point in Lisbon, offering a breathtaking panoramic view.
We descend to explore the Monastery of São Vicente de Fora, where the kings of Portugal are laid to rest, and pass by the imposing National Pantheon. We conclude our tour at the José Saramago Foundation, the home of the renowned Portuguese author, for a reflection on the culture and history of Lisbon.
