Tour Description

This walking tour of Lisbon offers an immersion into the heart of the city, exploring the grandeur and charm of the historic center. We begin at Marquês de Pombal, one of the city’s most iconic squares, where the imposing monument dedicated to the king who transformed Lisbon after the 1755 earthquake stands. From here, we walk along Avenida da Liberdade, one of the city’s most elegant streets, lined with luxury shops, cafes, and beautiful trees, leading us to Praça dos Restauradores. This historic square commemorates the Restoration of Portugal's Independence in 1640, after the reign of Spain, and is surrounded by some of the most notable buildings in the city.

The walk continues to the Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara, one of Lisbon's most famous viewpoints, where we can admire a breathtaking panoramic view of the Baixa, São Jorge Castle, and the city spread across its hills. Descending a bit further, we reach the Church of São Roque, one of the finest examples of Baroque architecture in Lisbon, with its stunning interior and richly decorated chapels.

Next, we explore the charming Chiado neighborhood, a cultural and literary hub known for its historic cafes, bookstores, and theaters. We then arrive at the Santa Justa Elevator, an iconic structure that connects Baixa to Bairro Alto, offering impressive views of the city and the Tagus River.

We continue along Rua Augusta, the main pedestrian street of Baixa, filled with shops, restaurants, and the vibrant Lisbon lifestyle, until we reach Praça do Comércio, one of the largest and most striking squares in the city, with views of the river and surrounded by historic buildings. The tour concludes here, where the beauty and history of Lisbon merge into an unforgettable setting.
